How We Help

Mid West Simon community supports individuals and families who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or experiencing housing difficulties.

We offer emergency accommodation, transitional housing, permanent housing, tenancy sustainment and support, advice, information, and advocacy.

We offer emergency accommodation, transitional housing, permanent housing, tenancy sustainment and support, advice, information, and advocacy.

We support people without judgement, coercion, or discrimination. Stopping substance use is not a precondition for giving support. Our harm reduction model focuses on positive change. Our approach is founded on three key pillars:

  • Activation Activities and Life Skills Development
We help clients to find a new job, work on their CV, access education and take part in healthy and social activities or take up hobbies. We also have strong links to other services and local community groups for some of these participation and development services.

  • Care and Case Management
Every client gets an individual care plan to help them address difficulties that may be stopping them from moving out of homelessness. This includes a holistic needs assessment, person-centred support, planning and support to complete identified goals.

  • Trauma-Informed Practice
This involves understanding, recognising, and responding to the effects of all types of traumas. It also emphasises physical, psychological, and emotional safety, and helps people to rebuild the individual’s sense of control and empowerment. This approach underpins all our services and guides how we work with clients.

To make sure every individual client receives high-quality support, we develop a wraparound programme that could include services such as:

  • Case management (service coordination)
  • Counselling
  • Crisis care and outreach
  • Education/special education services, tutoring
  • Family support, independent living supports, or support groups
  • Mental Health and Addiction Supports
  • Health services and accessing medical cards
  • Legal services
  • Recreation and positive activities
  • Residential treatment
  • Transportation
